At this year's Plastic is Fantastic Day, industry experts came together to discuss the role of plastic in a sustainable future and to jointly develop the strategy of the Plastic is Fantastic Association.

At the Plastic is Fantastic Day 2025 we hosted a global audience.
Plastic is not the problem – it is part of the solution. French plastics expert Joseph Tayafeh inspired the audience with this clear message at Plastic is Fantastic Day in mid-May in Vorarlberg, Austria. In his keynote speech, Tayafeh emphasised: ‘Plastic is not only fantastic – it's unstoppable.’ A powerful statement that set the tone for a day full of inspiration and commitment.
A day dedicated to the future of plastics
At Plastic is Fantastic Day 2025, experts from the plastics industry gathered under the motto ‘Powerful Material, Powerful Voice’ to discuss new developments, share knowledge and jointly further develop the strategy of the Plastic is Fantastic initiative. The event provided space for constructive dialogue, new ideas – and a clear vision for the future of a material that is indispensable in many areas of life.
While the focus in previous years – then still under the name aVoice – was on regaining self-confidence for the industry, 2025 is about more than that: ‘Creating a Global Movement’ is the new motto. The aim is to promote a differentiated understanding of plastics across national borders – fact-based, responsible and future-oriented.

Plastic deserves a fair discussion
Plastic is Fantastic is committed not only to evaluating plastic objectively and impartially, but also to highlighting its many advantages for end consumers. Whether in packaging, medicine or mobility, plastic is an integral part of modern life. Nevertheless, the material is often criticised in a one-dimensional way in public debate.
This is where the initiative comes in: with constructive communication, targeted education and a network of committed voices that show how plastic can be used and recycled sustainably. ‘Plastic is Fantastic is the North Star of the industry and home to all plastics,’ sums up Dominic Fiel, Board Member & Executive Director – Plastic is Fantastic Association.
Taking a stand together – internally and externally
Plastic is Fantastic sees itself not only as a campaign, but as an industry movement. It is about sharing knowledge, taking responsibility and working together to find solutions. Events such as ‘Plastic is Fantastic Day’ create important platforms for this – they show that dialogue is worthwhile. And it is necessary.
In the long term, the initiative aims to debunk myths about plastic and replace them with understandable, transparent and fact-based communication. It wants to improve the image of the material and at the same time raise awareness of the responsible use of resources – among experts and end consumers alike.
