Gustavo Aguilar, Production Manager at the recycling plant in Toluca, Mexico.

Hello, Gustavo. Thank you for your time. What projects are you working on right now?

Along with numerous other projects, our current focus is on the development of the local strategy for our Plant 7 in Toluca. Our goal is to make this plant a pioneer in recycling technology in Mexico. We want to achieve this goal through our passion, commitment and discipline. This is what I strive for myself every day and what I also convey to my team.

What are the main challenges in your day-to-day work?

For me personally, there are three key areas of focus. First, it is very important to me that all employees working with me enjoy coming in to work every day. They need to know that their work has an integral part to play in the achievement of our goals and in the vision for our plant. Every employee should also be able to enjoy their evenings and get home to their families. Safety is therefore another important issue for me. And finally, it’s an exciting challenge to keep improving our recycling production a little bit more every day while at the same time bringing the ALPLA motto "Family of Pioneers" to life.

What has been your favourite project that you’ve worked on so far at ALPLA?

The nicest project, without a doubt, was launching the new plant in Toluca. Learning new things every day and seeing first hand how my team has grown both professionally and personally over time has really impressed me. But I also still love the day-to-day work at ALPLA, and I put my heart and soul into the recycling of plastics. It’s great to see that our initial plans have turned into a highly efficient recycling production system. We have succeeded in our mission.

What is the most important tool used in your work?

For me, the most valuable resource is people. And these precious people are creating history at ALPLArecycling.

If you had an extra hour in the day, how would you use it?

I always like to end my day with a reflection with my team, so the extra hour would help us to learn even more. Outside work, I would use the extra hour to enjoy more time with my family.

What other question do you think we should ask you?

How I would like to be remembered at ALPLArecycling.

Well, then. How would you like to be remembered at ALPLArecycling?

I would like to be remembered in such a way that people will continue talking about Gustavo for a long time to come. And I’d like my legacy to be passed on to new generations.

If you could only eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I love the cuisine of my country. Mexican food is really delicious. So, I would definitely choose some kind of Mexican dish.

Can you describe ALPLA in three words?

Development, opportunities and growth.

Thank you for your time.
