Tell us about yourself. Who are you, what do you do at ALPLA, and how long have you been part of the family of pioneers?
Hi, I’m Leidy Rincón, Colombian, wife to Camilo and mom to 10-year-old Salome. I’m a Certified Public Accountant, passionate about accounting systems and process improvement. I’m currently part of the ASH Americas team in Mexico. I have been a part of the Family of Pioneers for 12 years.
How did your journey at ALPLA begin and what motivated you to join the company?
My journey at ALPLA began in Colombia in May 2013. What attracted me was the opportunity to participate in the implementation of the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting software. This project offered the perfect platform to apply my experience in accounting systems while acquiring new knowledge and growing professionally.
What did you take away from your experience at ALPLA Colombia?
My time at ALPLA Colombia left a lasting impact on my personal development, solidifying essential principles such as integrity, teamwork, the constant pursuit of improvement, and a strong sense of belonging.
What motivated you to take on a new challenge in another country?
My main motivation to join the Accounting Service Hub Americas in Mexico was the opportunity for significant professional growth. The chance to expand my experience with various accounting systems and work with colleagues internationally—along with the enriching experience of introducing my daughter to a new culture—were decisive factors.
What have been the biggest challenges and rewards of this transition to Mexico?
The transition to Mexico has brought important challenges, such as adapting to a new culture, food, a different work environment, and at times, dealing with the distance from family. However, the rewards have been enormous. I’ve had the chance to work on challenging projects, meet wonderful people from different countries, and learn a great deal about new processes.
How has this international experience influenced your personal and professional growth?
This international experience has significantly influenced my professional growth by exposing me to new ways of working, different approaches, and the need to develop greater adaptability and intercultural communication skills. On a personal level, it has been incredibly enriching—it has made me more resilient, open to new experiences, and helped me grow as a person.
How has this change been for you and your family? What has it meant to you personally?
The change has been a complete adaptation process for me and my family. It has required adjustments to our lives and customs, but also brought new opportunities and enriching experiences. Living in a new country has brought us closer as a family and made us stronger. Together, we’ve turned obstacles into valuable learning experiences. We've also met amazing people who have welcomed us and made us feel like we have a family here in Mexico too.
What advice would you give to those who want to grow within ALPLA, even beyond their country of origin?
To those looking to grow within ALPLA, even beyond their home country, I would advise being curious, proactive, and always open to learning. It's essential to show commitment, a willingness to take on new challenges, and build strong relationships within the company. Don’t hesitate to express your interest in international opportunities—ALPLA values the talent and ambition of its people.
What motivates you today to keep building your career at ALPLA?
