At this year's ‘Austria's Leading Companies’ (ALC) business competition, ALPLA was presented with the ESG Award 2025 for the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. The award recognises companies that demonstrate measurable excellence in the areas of environment, social affairs and corporate governance and consistently implement their sustainability goals. The award is presented by the auditing and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers Austria (PwC) in conjunction with the Austrian daily newspaper ‘Die Presse’ and the Austrian association for the protection of creditors ‘Kreditschutzverband von 1870’ (KSV1870).
PwC's ESG experts analysed the sustainability strategy and performance of Austria's 165 highest-revenue companies. Twenty-two key performance indicators in the areas of environment, social affairs and governance were evaluated. The evaluation system takes into account both qualitative objectives and measurable progress over the past three years. The key criteria include transparent reporting, comprehensive materiality analyses, the recording and reduction of all emissions across scopes 1, 2 and 3, progress in occupational safety and further training, and the integration of ESG factors into management systems and remuneration models.

Comprehensive sustainability approach
As the best ESG company in Vorarlberg, ALPLA impresses with its comprehensive, long-term sustainability approach. The company performs particularly well in the area of climate and environment, with measurable CO₂ reductions, systematic climate risk analysis and the expansion of the circular economy. ALPLA is also committed to continuous development in the social sphere, for example through clear objectives for training and occupational safety. In terms of governance, the company scores highly with its transparent reporting and the application of double materiality analysis.
ALPLA voluntarily adapted its sustainability report to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) in 2024 – three years before they become mandatory. This underlines the company's leading role in the sustainable transformation of the plastics industry and its commitment to viewing ESG not only as a reporting obligation, but as part of its corporate DNA.
Actively shaping sustainability
‘This award shows that our consistent work is having an impact. For us, sustainability is a process that we develop further every day together with our employees and partners. The ESG Award confirms that we are on the right track – with clear goals, transparent actions and active responsibility,’ emphasises Roland Wassermann, Director Corporate Strategy, Sustainability & Business Innovation at ALPLA.
The ESG Award 2025 once again confirms the position of ALPLA as an industry pioneer in sustainability. The award stands for long-term resilience, innovative strength and the courage not only to demand sustainability, but to actively shape it.
